Participatory research consists of real scientific research projects carried out by citizens. During this training course, we will therefore lead the entrepreneurs, governments and NGOs in attendance to harness the benefits of using participatory science to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The training course will feature several workshops demonstrating how participatory research can both support the implementation of solutions and create new ones, in the service of the SDGs. It will illustrate the fact that participatory research has the effect of a powerful bottom-up learning process, as it enables training and education through practice, while building everyone's capacities and being a means of involving citizens and the various stakeholders: during this training we will show how to design a Participatory Science project that contributes both to a path towards empowerment for all players and to a reduction in the time needed to generate solutions. In addition to creating jobs, it also generates wealth.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Development of NGO activities and training for NGO Program Managers
This five-day high-level training course, aimed at any NGO in the process of creation or development, will present and model the functioning of different types of mandates co-existing within an NGO. The NGOs present will reinforce each other's expertise and winning solutions.
The training will take the form of a series of presentations, workshops and meetings, presenting and discussing the very wide range of possibilities in terms of NGO creation projects (in particular, an introduction to the concept thanks to the 'Serious game' proposed as an introduction to the conference). Then, based on the concrete example of the unique organization and rapid, successful development of the NGO Objectif Sciences International (OSI), seminar participants will be able to acquire a complete mastery and expertise of how an NGO works, and how a program manager's mandate (e.g. pedagogical, logistical, technical, developmental, etc.) within an NGO functions. The conference will then provide an opportunity for presentation and training in a number of tools (technological and pedagogical) specifically designed and/or optimized by OSI, and made available to other NGOs at the event, enabling them to effectively and fully carry out a Program Manager mandate within an NGO, or to collectively pilot the local group of an international NGO.
The event will also be an opportunity for OSI to offer personalized support to individuals and organizations planning to set up an NGO, as well as to NGOs wishing to develop their activities in support of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
Finally, individuals or NGOs wishing to develop a partnership between their organization and the NGO OSI will find, during this training, a list of tools enabling them to create and develop such partnerships.
At the end of these 5 days, having benefited from and enriched themselves with the experience and original expertise of the NGO OSI, participants will be capable and autonomous of making themselves competent and guarantors internally of the fundamental rules of NGO organization, at the operational, institutional, local or international levels of their projects within the NGO and/or of the NGO itself, by knowing where to go to obtain the necessary methodological resources.
